Pentalabbs, starting out as an initiative to enhance internal innovations within the Pentalog Group, Grégory Rondin and his colleagues soon realized what great potential lies in the Romanian start-up scene. Thus, they decided to support entrepreneurs and start-ups outside the group. Italy’s start-up scene is growing rapidly and start-ups show a very international approach from day one. This led some experts even compare the country’s tech scene to that of Israel. We wanted to explore further the present momentum and spoke to three experts of the Italian ecosystem: Enrico Gasperini, Founder and Executive Chairman of Digital Magics, Luca Romé, Founding Partner of Startup Italia and Marina Calcagno Baldini manager and coordinator of StartMiUp, a coworking space and accelerator in Milan.

After returning from the USA Imre Hild has founded two start-ups in Budapest. Since then he is heavily engaged in efforts to boost Hungarian entrepreneurship: Today he is CEO of his own tech accelerator called iCatapult and carries the title of a Global Entrepreneurship Ambassador for the Hungarian Venture Capital- and Private Equity-Association evangelizing about the new creed of global start-ups.

Cyprus is not the only European country struck by the economic crisis and high youth unemplyoment, however, when speaking to Stavriana Kofteros, there seems to be strong leadership to find a solution through entrepreneurship. Stavriana is the Special Entrepreneurship, RDI Adviser to the President and Deputy Spokesperson of the governing party, Democratic Rally (European People’s Party member). She also is the organizer of the Cyprus Startup Weekend and has been the CEO of the Diogenes Business Incubator of the University of Cyprus with over twelve years’ experience in incubation and commercialization.
