Vom 24. bis zum 26. Juni verwandelte die We Make Future (WMF) 2026 Italien in den Hotspot der Tech-Szene. Wir waren live vor Ort, um die heißesten Trends, Insights und Stimmen der Branche einzufangen. Auf dem Event hatten wir die Gelegenheit, Giovanni Parisi, Executive Managing Director der NESS SRL, zu sprechen.
VC Magazin: Welche Ziele verfolgen Sie mit Ihrem Unternehmen?
Parisi: Im Grunde genommen sind wir als Systemintegrator im Bereich der Automatisierungstechnik aktiv. Wir realisieren industrielle Großprojekte, bei denen wir klassische Robotik, autonome mobile Roboter (AMRs) und alle weiteren notwendigen Subsysteme zu einer schlüsselfertigen Gesamtlösung zusammenführen. Unser Hauptsitz liegt in Reggio Emilia, mitten in der Region Emilia-Romagna.
Ich würde uns heute jedoch viel mehr als Software-Engineers beschreiben, da die wahre Komplexität moderner Automatisierungsanlagen mittlerweile auf der Software Seite liegt. Wir implementieren gezielt Lösungen mit Künstlicher Intelligenz – wie in einem aktuellen Fall eine hochentwickelte Bildverarbeitungslösung, die nahezu jede Form von Objekterkennung beherrscht. Hier stoßen wir direkt in das Feld der ‚Physical AI‘ vor, da wir eine Vielzahl unterschiedlichster Sensoren miteinander vernetzen müssen.
VC Magazin: Wie steht es aktuell um den Robotik-Bereich in Italien?
Parisi: Man hat oft das Gefühl, dass Italien im europäischen Vergleich bei der Roboterdichte noch Nachholbedarf hat. Fakt ist aber: Für die Zukunft unseres Standorts ist eine verstärkte Automatisierung von jetzt an ein absolutes Muss. Wir laufen in einen massiven, allgemeinen Kompetenz- und Fachkräftemangel hinein – es gibt schlicht immer weniger Menschen, die bereit sind, diese komplexen und anspruchsvollen Aufgaben in der Praxis zu übernehmen. Höhere Automatisierung ist für uns daher keine Option mehr, sondern eine schiere Notwendigkeit.

From June 24 to 26, We Make Future (WMF) 2026 transformed Italy into the hotspot of the tech scene. We were live on-site to capture the hottest trends, insights, and voices of the industry. At the event, we had the opportunity to speak with Giovanni Parisi, Executive Managing Director of NESS SRL!
VC Magazin: What goals are you pursuing with your company?
Parisi: Basically, we operate as a system integrator in the field of automation technology. We realize large-scale industrial projects where we combine traditional robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and all other necessary subsystems into a turnkey complete solution. Our headquarters are located in Reggio Emilia, right in the heart of the Emilia-Romagna region.
However, today I would describe us much more as software engineers, as the true complexity of modern automation systems now lies on the software side. We specifically implement solutions with Artificial Intelligence – such as, in a current case, a highly advanced image processing solution that masters almost any form of object recognition. Here, we are pushing directly into the field of „Physical AI,“ as we have to network a large number of highly diverse sensors.
VC Magazin: What is the current state of the robotics sector in Italy?
Parisi: People often get the feeling that Italy still has some catching up to do in terms of robot density compared to other European countries. But the fact is: for the future of our business location, increased automation is an absolute must from now on. We are running into a massive, general shortage of skills and skilled labor – there are simply fewer and fewer people who are willing to take on these complex and demanding tasks in practice. Increased automation is therefore no longer an option for us, but a sheer necessity.
